In an iHeartRadio interview with Ryan Seacrest for his new album "Nothing Was the Same", Toronto rapper Drake confirmed that he and pop/R'n'B diva Beyonce Knowles had recently been working together in the recording
studio, collaborating for her forthcoming album. The said LP, Bey's
fifth studio album, is still being put together while she's performing
on the road under her Mrs. Carter Show world tour.
"I reached out to her and asked if I could come and be a part of her
project and she was kind enough to invite me out there. And we did some
work together," he recalled. The joint project was sealed when he found
himself in a building in the company of Bey's hubby Jay-Z, record producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, and one of his supposed mentors, Justin Timberlake.
During the 30-minute chat with Seacrest, the Grammy Award-winning
rapper, who already paid homage to Bey on his track "Girls Love
Beyonce", confessed, "I'm a Beyonce believer." Drake heaped praises on
the "Grown Woman" singer, saying, "I really believe strongly in her
talent and her position in our generation. I think she's one of the
biggest stars ever, but especially for these girls right now. I feel
like they need Beyonce."
In contrast to his very open stance when he spoke about Beyonce during
the iHeartRadio interview, Drake dodged rumors linking him to another
pop/R'n'B diva, Rihanna, during his guest appearance on Chelsea Handler's talk show "Chelsea Lately".
